It looks like you may have gone a little too deep which is why it may look a bit strange. Maybe you can soften the edges of the cuts.

Possibly? I went just shy of 1/4 deep ... I do plan on sanding more to soften them a little more and maybe that will help out.

I think the look of the v grove will add a detail to the finished project. I think it will look good when all said and done. It’s also such a small detail on a bigger piece that only guys like us will ever notice.

Great progress!

Hah! I am hoping so ? once I get it all glued up and can sand it a little more, I think they will turn out 'ok'ish' but yes I think it should be minor enough most may not really even notice it

How do you like the dewalt quick clamps? I don’t have many quick clamps and am looking to get a few more.

I love mine for things like this, or holding my hose on my little router table ... odd jobs etc etc. I dont use them for anything major as I stick with my bessey's for that. I had noticed they can pull pieces out of alignment if you dont watch it. So that is why I use them for the odd jobs and nothing important after seeing that. Maybe I just got a bad batch? I dont know ...

This is where I stand after a day of gluing with kid pickup and soccer practice ... will finish the other roughly 7 hours of gluing tomorrow based on my progress speed today.

Good advice on the clamps. I have used some in the past and thought they didn’t have much clamping pressure. I cringe when I see people using them to glue up panels. But I have may have a bad feeling about them as it’s been 15 years since I have really used them. Maybe they have gotten better in that time? I used them mostly for installation of cabinets more to just hold things close to being in the right position. Would then come back with a wooden screw clamp to fine tune the fit, if it was a small enough joint to use that style of clamp.

You, Chet and Bryan make for a helluva team. I’m kinda liking the groove. You can tell Mom, it’s your own unique design! Yeah, soften it a bit.

hah! ?  It could be my new signature technique

I like the groove as well.  However I would be cheating on that glue up by using a pinner to tack in the smaller pieces, then clamping.  You have a lot more patience than I.

I was thinking of doing that, but due to not being able to just clamp the whole thing together at once since it is not structurally able to handle it ... so have just accepted this way for this glue up. Unless you mean just glue and tack it and be done with it?

now that we can post again ... here is everything to get caught back up.

All together and done with gluing finally haha ... A few legs slipped out of place somehow and cause some wobble when standing. Guess I should have gone with exact dominoes and not the middle looseness ones. Lesson learned.

So I built me a panel sled based off Kev's video for a refresher ..

I got these runners off another FB page, 3D printed so I figured I would try them out. Had them for a year + now waiting on building some sleds. GREAT fit, just small, so I needed 2 of them.

Test cut flipped and checked and perfect! Just a little tear out, but this wasnt my plywood blade ...

Now that the panel was a perfect 90* (or as close to the eye as it can be) I through the table on it and cut the feet back to the same size. Not sure if there were other options on how to handle this, but this is what I came up with haha.

Ok, the shirt was my favorite part ?

Amazing job!  Not my style but, I surely appreciate the craftsmanship and work!  Nicely done!

Hah! Well, it is a great shirt ?

Thanks! There is definitely some mistakes on this one, but overall I think I corrected them enough with yalls help to make it nice again. I did learn quite a bit so that is always good! Now I will be moving on to my next project, a coffee table for the wife for our living room.

It’s been a interesting build. It’s turned out great.

Thanks! It was fun and very challenging for sure!

Turned out very nice! Great job! Looks like a fun project to have built.

Thanks! Fun yes, but so glad to be through with it and the glue up haha.

So for the last thing today ... I still need to add the felt pads on the feet and then the rubber pads for the glass on the cross braces so it doesn't slide around. I will get a pic or 2 of the fully completed look today though.

Great job on the table.  You really seemed to push your comfort level on this project which is a great sign of growth.

Yep. Out of ignorance I didn’t think it would be this tough haha. Always learning and definitely jumped out of the comfort zone. I like to test myself and dive right in ... sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s a glorious explosion of wrong ?

That is darn cool. Are you still going to build the coffee table?

haha, not right away ... the glue up and 4 hours of hand sanding beat me down!! I am going to switch and build the coffee table my wife is wanting. Then I might come back to the coffee table companion for this.

That came out real nice Drew, Very well done.

Cork might look better against the wood for the glass shelf.

Nice!  I like the visual interest created by the staggered layers, the staggered open spaces.  Well done!  Nice eye, Moms!
