@Tmize I’ve seen others do this and have thought about doing the same to my griz. Question for you tho.....with that mounted under your table does it impede changing the angle of your table top?
  2. @Coop nice job with the sled hangers! Like how the bottom of the bracket holds the sled below it. Great idea!
  3. I don’t keep a dedicated cull set in the shop. If I need a cull I just head to the scrap pile.
  4. Wow! That door came to life! Perfect color match throughout! The guys are spot on, that door belongs on the front of your house. Nice job bud!
  5. I was cutting In my test piece when the bit broke. I haven’t really even looked at the chairs since that happened. Was thinking I was at a standstill with the project till I got that bit. After being in the shop a bit tonight I realized there is a few things that I can do while waiting for the replacement from rikon to show up.
  6. The thickness of the board is 9/16 and the planed m&t calls for 1/4”. My thought is increasing the size of the m&t to 5/16. With the tenon being angled I’m worried that it won’t quite leave enough room to make a shoulder cut considering the offset of the tenon with the angle on it. Yeah I bet if I just draw it out on a board it should give me the answer. I like the router idea! My plan was to do it all on the tablesaw.
  7. Lol no worries, I’ll try to do better on explaining..... The thickness of the back rest of the chairs is 9/16” which the plans call for a 1/4 tenon on the ends. The tenon going into the shoe rail has about a 10 degree angle so that the back rest slat goes in line with the back legs. I should do a little trial run and see if 5/16” tenon will work out with the angle that has to be cut.
  8. Yeah I agree it’s not gonna see much use going forward. Was thinking maybe changing it up to 5/16” issue I’m seeing doing that is these m&t are for the back slats that are 9/16” thick and have an angled tenon on one end.
  9. Ordered a 1/4” delta chisel and bit from amazon to keep going on the project. Ordered it before I got a response back from rikon. It showed up today and had me excited to get back on the chairs. Opened the bit up and man was it short. Fit in the rikon just fine but the drill bit was to short to reach the chuck. So now I find myself waiting on the rikon shipment.
  10. Great experiment! One thing you forget to mention is battery life?
  11. Nice work on the miters! 55?!! We were 75ish today, record highs. It can stay like this till Christmas then warm up.
  12. It’s amazing how they get away with it.
  13. No more political ads!
  14. Shoot them an email. Don’t have to talk to anyone that way ?
  15. It sure does. Next tool purchase I will be giving rikon the first chance.
  16. Update from rikon....... I emailed them yesterday and got a response first thing this morning, which I was shocked it was that quick of response! They are sending the parts for the depth stop along with a new 1/4” chisel and bit.
  17. I just drilled some holes in 1/2 ply and store it in a drawer.
  18. Yes I remember it very well. Was the first thing I thought of when it happened. Sent an email to rikon and will see what they say. Also ordered a chisel so I can keep going on the project.
  19. Well I got bit by the broken hcm but this morning. 1/4” drill bit snapped off. Was only on the 3rd mortise with the bit. Going to check with rikon on getting it replaced. Here is Emmi and her creations.
  20. I’d be willing to bet that the double doors would’ve been original. The old school house here has the double doors on it yet. I have often thought about making my own front door. With the weather we have in Iowa wood isn’t the best choice, with the maintenance it would take along with the insulation factor. The handrail and spindles I bought new. I finished them and installed. Also made all the trim and baseboard.
  21. That is a cool looking building! With the arch at least you have a template to make a new one. The steel worked in a pinch! What state is this building in if you don’t mind sharing that info?
  22. I figured that! It has gotten us talking about that house. As In us I mean my wife and I. We can’t believe we lived in that place in a constant remodel phase for all those years. That bedroom was so gross looking back at it. Am kinda surprised she stuck with me after seeing it. I had bought the home before her and I got together. Good memories tho. With your school room project is the gut job something you are going to tackle?
  23. Thanks! Yeah they were in rough shape. Looking back at it now I think I was half nuts taking on that project. Took the chimney out and carried all the brick out in 5 gallon pails. Yes the doors would be left if the fan. Was a weird layout. Had to walk through the bedroom to get to the second bedroom. The door on the left led to the bedroom and on the right to a little half bath. Which also had a door coming to it from the other bedroom.
  24. Yeah if that’s the case I believe you have the right idea. Sometimes you are better off tearing it out. I probably should’ve done the same thing. Couldn’t do it at the time as we were pressed for time with a baby on the way.
  25. I had my wife send me some better before pictures. I forgot the look of this house! No wonder I got it so cheap. But hey it was a first home on the water. Was pretty small 2 bedroom I believe I paid $23,500 for it. Needless to say I put a lot of work into it. The electrical I hid in the bump out that you can see in the finished picture.
