  1. I like mine around that 63-65 to work in. It depends on how cold it is around here I usually don't let mine get below 45. If I do it seems like it takes quite a bit to get it to feel warm in there again. Lot of cement and iron to heat up. What do you think about going with a milk house type electric heater? https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_595_595?cm_mmc=Google-pla&utm_source=Google_PLA&utm_medium=Heaters %26 Stoves %2B Fireplaces > Electric Heaters&utm_campaign=Fahrenheat&utm_content=17303&&ds_e_ad_type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1emV7tmI7QIVz8DACh1bDwUAEAQYASABEgJ0WPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Brother in law has one in his garage and likes it. They do spin the meter pretty fast so keep that in mind. Would be simple to install
  2. Yes it's quite frustrating, it has given me the time to make sure all my parts are in order tho. Getting to the point in the project were left s and rights along with top and bottom come into play. Really don't want to make a mistake at this point by rushing through. So maybe it's a blessing to slow the process down some.
  3. I'm a cheap ass and use a box fan with a furnace filter taped to it. Amazing how much it catches. I should upgrade to a mounted one someday.
  4. Update from Rikon.......haven't seen the parts show up yet and with it going on 2 weeks I decided to give them a call today. This is after having an email from mid last week go unanswered. Talked to a different guy than the one I had been emailing. He looked it up and the parts we not released to be shipped. Mentioned that the guy I emailed didn't fill the form out correctly. I did get a confirmation that the order was placed shortly after getting off the phone with them. So the wait continues. I did take the down time away from the chairs to sit around a bit and did do a few shop organizer projects. Not so much to organize tools but to get my ice fishing gear in order.

Buddy of mine has the smaller one in a 30x36 garage Andy it heats it well. I went with the mid size one to have the btus to heat both mine and the wife's garage which would be around 2000sq ft
  6. I run propane in my shop, it's a forced air mr. Heater. I would argue the fact that it adds moisture. If anything in my situation it drys it out. I have a digital thermometer and moisture sensor in there and it drops the humidity quite a bit with the heat on. Maybe the wall mount burner type add moisture. I park my truck in the shop, when it snows it bring s the humidity up quite a bit. We are also have pretty dry air around here in the winter, have to run humidifiers in homes. I picked my heater up from Menards for $450 and about another $100 in piping. I did hook it up myself including running the gas line. It was closer to trench a line from my tank than to run line from the house so went that option. This is a question I was thinking about asking the other day.....how warm do you guys keep your shops when your not in them?
  7. Turned out very nice! Great job! Looks like a fun project to have built.
  8. I’m hoping to give the dining chairs to my wife.....don’t think I’ll have time to make much else.
  9. That is super impressive to do that by hand! looks great!
  10. Lol anytime! I’m trying to think of a max $ on the drum sander. Gotta figure in 18% buying premium. To buy a new one it’s around $2350 all said and done. I don’t think I’ll end up with it as I’m not going to reach very far. So basically what’s it worth?
  11. I bid on the drum sander, the Bosch glide saw, the jet dust collector. Watching about 80 things tho! Currently I don’t have the high bid on any items. @Coop I can pick up whatever you want to buy at it?
  12. Nice job! Come on over and do that to my shop!
  13. Lol best part is it’s all online!
  14. Yeah from what I can tell the guy made a lot of things from templeton rye whiskey barrels. Will see how things go in it.
  15. Another auction in my area. About an hour away. https://www.proxibid.com/Backes-Commercial-Auctioneers/Day-1-of-2-Bondurant-Custom-Furniture/event-catalog/189568 Looking at the drum sander, jet dust collector and the Bosch saw.
  16. Good advice on the clamps. I have used some in the past and thought they didn’t have much clamping pressure. I cringe when I see people using them to glue up panels. But I have may have a bad feeling about them as it’s been 15 years since I have really used them. Maybe they have gotten better in that time? I used them mostly for installation of cabinets more to just hold things close to being in the right position. Would then come back with a wooden screw clamp to fine tune the fit, if it was a small enough joint to use that style of clamp.
  17. I love it as well! When I harvested some last fall and this spring I took the root caps and planted them. Some buddies let me dig in their patches and another gave me some root to get a patch started. I planted a 30” wide by 10’ long patch by our garden shed. After cutting the leaves off it seems like there are 20-25 plants going. After a quick search it will grow in zone 9, said it grows best in places that get a hard frost that make the plant go dormant. I’d be happy to send you some root to try to get a patch going.
  18. Yes it a painful wait. Lol I wish we had peaches to pick. Yeah garden hoses drained, plants trimmed up, tons of leaves picked up ( which was pointless as the big maple in my front yard dropped all its leaves today) and got the snow blower tuned up. Did cut all the leaves off the horseradish patch and am contemplating digging a few roots up. Was always told to wait 2 years before digging, which mine have been in for a year. The roots I started came from established plants so might try a couple and see what I get.
  19. The wait on the chisel is about killing me! But it has been nice to get things wrapped up around the house for winter. Did get the back legs finish sanded, and the shop cleaned up.
  20. How do you like the dewalt quick clamps? I don’t have many quick clamps and am looking to get a few more.
  21. I think the look of the v grove will add a detail to the finished project. I think it will look good when all said and done. It’s also such a small detail on a bigger piece that only guys like us will ever notice. Great progress!

    Bandsaw DC

Did you hold it on with magnets?
  23. I think I need to refrain from my real opinions in this one. Just feeling like something got stolen right in front of my face and can’t do a thing about it.

    Bandsaw blades

I have been running the 1/2 timber wolf 3 or 4 tpi blade. Have cut quite a bit with it and have been happy with it. Although it won’t cut a really tight radius. Find it to be good for re-sawing and other cuts.
