Coop
That looks darn decent! FYI, a big flat thick sponge and a bucket of water, sure beats the heck out of sandpaper. 1
pkinneb
I hear you Ray!! When I did my basement I called several dry wall hangers but nobody would take on the work finally frustrated with the delays I hung it myself. Luckily I was able to find somebody to tape it, he did in two weeks what would have taken me months 🙂 2

Ray Martin
I will take some pictures tomorrow. Not a lot of change visually as currently mudding. Will follow up tomorrow.
Ray Martin
Afternoon all. We'll took a couple of pictures today for the shop update. Still have a bit of mud to put down. All of the screw holes have been completed (3 times as recommended) in both areas.

Ray Martin
Well Kevin stopped by to give me a hand with a few things today. We got the door hung today between the shop and craft room. Also got the area at the garage door sanded and primed. The primer allowed me to see how much more mudding and sanding I needed to do in that area. Believe it or not, came out much better then I expected. Pleasantly surprised and encouraged. Kevin suggested that we do that and paint it in order to not have to keep moving the things in the shop . Once it's complete everything goes to that area and stays there until we start moving things into the shop. Brilliant idea (if my calculations are correct, that's his third good idea this year 🤣 ). Here are a couple of pictures of today's progress. Don't worry Kevin, the door is not fully closed. The putty is fine 🙂. 3

Ray Martin
Did some cleaning and priming yesterday. Looks like I still have a little mudding and sanding left to do. Will do more today. Dragging a little bit today.
Kev
@Ray Martin I have some more of those drop cloths if you need them.. Should have thought about that yesterday when you were here.. Looking great! Will be moving in before you know it.
Ray Martin
Well finally have an update. Finally got the ceiling primed. What a pain in the neck, literally. Have decided to spray the ceiling. Have had enough of the rolling. Got the craft room textured today. Monday will paint the ceiling in craft room and shop. Getting ever so close. Goal for next week is to start moving in equipment.
Ray Martin
Well the paint of the craft room and ceiling in the shop has been painted and complete. All of the lights are installed in both areas as well. Only problem for the shop lights is they are not working. There have been 3 different people besides myself trouble shoot the issue. Wiring these lights are not difficult. I have power to the fixtures but bulbs will not light up. Looked at the directions for the fixtures and the recommended bulbs are not the ones they gave me at the electrical supply house are not on the list. So we believe that they gave me the wrong led bulbs. The ones I have require a Load and a neutral at each end. The load an neutral are at one end only on the fixture. Will be at the supply house first thing Tuesday morning. Hope all have a very Merry Christmas. Will update Tuesday.

Ray Martin
Good evening. Hope all had a blessed Christmas. Was at the electrical supply house this morning inquiring about the led bulbs they gave me for the fixtures. We'll my suspicions were correct. They were in fact the wrong bulbs. Got the correct ones and proceeded back to the shop. Fixtures were installed Christmas Eve. Wired them up this morning and they are nice and bright. 10 total. Cleaned up the shop today. Had to scrape floors to remove dried mud and paint over spray. Need to somehow remove sheetrock dust embedded in the concrete. Anyway posting a few pictures.
Coop
Glad you got the bulb problem resolved. That looks fantastic!
Ray Martin
Well I am progressing. Hope to possibly start moving things into the shop this weekend. Craft room is complete except for trim. Shop is same. Wanted to clean floors with a floor scrubber because of all of the drywall garbage. Inquired at every rental businesses and all were broken. Go figure. Thought outside the box and rented a Rug Doctor. Did just fine. Looks 100% better. Pictures don't do it justice. Looking at sealing the concrete as it has oxidized quiet a bit. Will check tomorrow. It looks like you have a pretty smooth finish to your concrete, putting a sealer may make it prone to being slippery especially with a little sawdust on it. 1 Quote "Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for." - Epicurus
Ray Martin
@Chet well it looks like my floors are going to stay the way they are. Went a bought some muratic acid to clean the sheen that was still on the floor. Didn't change them at all. The sheen needed to be remove in order for the sealer to stick. Oh well. Ray Martin
Quick update. Kevin and I have got all of the shop equipment in the shop. What a blessing he is to help with all of that. I'm to dang old to be lifting that heavy stuff. He's not to far behind. Have got all of the casing work done for doors and windows. Clear coated all of the alder and installed. Will get some pictures out soon. Also went and picked up 130 board feet of more alder hopefully to finish the rest of trim and baseboard for both areas. Decided to go with alder with a cler coat. Really saved some money as we were going with cherry originally. Actually like it better because of the rustic look it provides with the knots. More to come later.
Coop
Ray, have you had your equipment in storage or just moved it from your existing shop to the new one?
Ray Martin
@Coop had all of my equipment in our double car garage. It's a bit oversized so it worked out well. Still a little cramped but it worked well. That's another project when I have some extra time is to organize the garage. Glad It's winter so I have more time to get it done.
Ray Martin
Well spent a good part of the day in the shop milling baseboards and trin. 130 bf. All I have to do with them is square up the ends. Clear coat and put them where they belong. A couple of pictures the casings for windows and doors.

We’ve got a hard freeze (mid to low 20’s) coming up early next week and just out of curiosity, I checked the weather for Kalispell and holy crap! Will be interested to know how warm the mini split keeps the shop in -30* temps? Or when it gets that cold, do you just stay inside and snuggle with mamma and say screw the shop?
