  1. I ended up getting my tubes from home depot ... however I did send American Green Lights an email asking for help with their products and what all I should get. I got a 14 page PDF demoing everything ... some pics of it. I just sent them a layout of my shop.
  2. Cute looking pooch! Is it one of those labradoodles or something like that? Also, these gloves look thick ... I use the typical medical gloves and they seem to be ok for light tasks like putting on ARS and things like that. However, they rip easy if I start grabbing things like tools or moving heavy things.
  3. also... did I miss the picture of this installed in the room?
  4. I like the wood switch up, and wenge is always a nice touch... However the new addition looks like you built a monster base, and then the top was an afterthought addition added later type of thing. Why not thing of something more horizontal ... like a miniature version of what was there originally.
  5. all I hear is freed up lumber for more fun projects down the road ? and yes, that this looks like an absolute monster! A gorgeous monster though ..
  6. thanks guys! I was super happy with how the miters came out! I was worried most the day while working with them. Also what is the deal with having a great sharp miter edge, and then hitting it on everything so its not crisp haha. Such a pain, it was like a magnet for everything in the garage to hit them. Letting this one glue up overnight and then I will do the other leg in the morning. If all goes well, after lunch I can work on finish sanding and then saturday I could finish it. I was reading the can ... does anyone really wait, i think it was 2-3 days, after applying ARS to apply the high endurance top coat .. or any other water based top coat? I have not in the past and have not had any issues. I normally let it dry for about 12-24 hours though it seems as I put it on at night and let it settle in over night and early in the morning.
  7. I will take a look at that book and see .. if it can help me then it will be magical ?. Maybe my problem is I got them to size too quick
  8. getting my CA glue and blue tape clamping going! Here is the bevel cut ... first time ever doing something like this, I think it turned out really well and looks decent too haha Had to get a little creative to clamp it up and have upward pressure to help the clamps ...
  9. when in doubt, find a kev video ? ... speaking of that camphor table haha ... Need clamping and domino ideas and since we talked about this build yesterday it was perfect timing on a refresher for what I am about to do.
  10. When it needs to be 45* ... might as well be doubly sure .. (not sure why pic loaded upside down lol) test cut ... seems to be solid. the amount of checking and rechecking ... it took some time haha miters cut ... next was going to cut a smaller bevel on the inside bottom parts to just give it some relief and not look like a big box. Not a lot, but like 1/2" or so ... thoughts?
  11. haha! I got everything glued up yesterday, let it dry overnight ... today will be a big day, hopefully if I dont screw up the miters ?
  12. ooooh that is camphor? I remember that project ? Yes, beautiful indeed ... is it not widely available?
  13. good to know its just a fragrant wood ? ... haha I bet camphor does clean up the sinuses! Never actually seen any anywhere to buy before though.
  14. always wanted to build some boxes ... although the couple times I tried my thin pieces of would turned into potato chips and I gave up haha
  15. fired up the DC yesterday, too busy all weekend and monday to get out there. I did not feel I was chewing the dust anymore!! Although I could smell the Sapele while I was jointing next to the DC, not sure if that was from a leak in the DC or from the jointer? Either way ... 100X better than it was for sure!
  16. hoping it should go quick'ish ? I only have 2 now at the moment, moxon and this. Minus the other 10 or so on the waiting list ? Needed something to do while I rough milled the sapele and let it sit the rest of the day. Didnt want to waste a 73* day out in the shop, so started the moxon build as well. Then when I am waiting on the sapele to dry from the glueups tomorrow I will work some more on the moxon.
  17. This is going to be a pretty basic build, wife wanted a hall table "statement" piece next to the front door. I figured the amazing quartersawn sapele look with be a statement enough ? ... around 35x45x15ish. Going to be connected with 45* cuts, I guess that is called waterfall? All the part cuts were made to keep the grain flowing correctly for all boards. I picked up 3 13' quartersawn sapele 8/4 boards .. nice and heavy haha. Dont mind the 12/4 oak also hanging out on the assembly table, that is the moxon vise build going on there.
  18. I am curious what you all do for building your items ... I normally google search around and see if anything jumps out that could work and/or be modified some to fit my needs. I also search youtube for things and save pics when I see something cool. However, I am curious, for something purely custom and pretty close to unique as you can get, how is the thought process there? I was thinking of looking around and trying to find like a woodworking design type class to see if I could pick up any tricks to thinking outside the box and just coming up with something on my own. Anyone else think about this or go through with it or have formal training?
  19. gotcha! Which model/s are you thinking? I always leaning to the BX18 from them if I went Laguna route.
  20. So are you saying your next bandsaw would be a Laguna? Not a Minimax or Felder or something along those lines?
  21. not saying it isnt ,,, just never actually looked at them and the pricing haha
  22. there are tons of options for you out there... but what type of budget are you working with, how big of a space do you have to put one, what will you be using the saw for mainly?
  23. Here is one of the videos I followed ... also thinking of doing his bucket idea as well...
  24. My goodness. I had no idea these were so expensive until I started looking at them after you sent your link haha.
