It’s just like an open ended sander except it has a closed end with 2 drums in line. The second drum will usually have a finer grit than the first and is also set a little deeper of a cut. Can start with say 80 and 120, make a pass and it’s like 2 on a single drum. Then switch grits to finer. Speeds up the process

I know exactly what you guys are saying, it works out really well with the way the case is attached to the face frame. The top drawing is the one to focus on, with the stile being 1 1/2 - 3/4 of the ply leaves 3/4 to play with. The key measurement and placement of the dado is to have 1/2" to the inside of the cabinet, this allows to use drawer spacers to properly align the drawer slides. Which will leave a strong 1/4" of the outside of the case which on a finished end will leave the room to contact cement a piece of 1/4 ply or allow some room when installing when going cabinet to cabinet.

Great idea! I did think about that and the customer doesn't want to have cherry on the inside of some cabinets and birch on the others.

Yes that looks like really good material. Just dont have the buying options out here in Iowa

It does add to the expense of building but I have always felt that 1/4 ply gets better looking veneer on it than 3/4.

I would agree that the delta I have is very under powered, I checked out the supermax 25 x2 and seems like a really good machine. Like how it has a 5hp motor vs the 3hp on the grizzly. Now the question comes down to open end vs closed end? @Kev If I remember right you have the open ended version?

Is there quite a difference in it vs the 4x8? For me I don’t see how 5x5 would be very efficient in common size plywood usage.

So.....with this kitchen project in the making I’m thinking I could have a little catch in this step of the project. I currently have a delta 16-32, underpowered little machine that I did take time to dial in and do have it pretty true. It works great for sanding a few pieces at a time but don’t think it will hold up to a set of cabinet doors. Plus it’s just super slow going. I can probably get the face frames and doors, drawer fronts all sanded at the cabinet shop I used to work at, 5 miles from home. Thinking from what they have charged me in the past that it would be around $300 for this operation. This has me thinking that I could upgrade my sander but not sure what to go to. Don’t want to spend a ton but don’t want a pos either. So have looked around at buying.....grizzly 24” 2 drum is the most reasonable priced option I have seen for new. Wood master has a nice 37” single head but that is quite a bit more $. Just unsure on what to do.

Quick update on this project.......spent most of the weekend in the shop and I find myself using this table all the time! It’s so nice having a dedicated sanding area. Also I leave the fan on when working in the shop and have noticed a huge improvement in the shop air quality. The fan in the table moves some serious air! When random orbit sanding on the table there is no air borne dust, it actually pulls the piece down onto the table, not that it is stuck but there is enough suction that you notice it when trying to move the board. I also used the fan to heat up the garage that my wife parks in, she happened to leave her garage door open the other day while she was at work. It got to a high of -2 that day. Needless to say everything was froze up in there. We have a fridge in there and some other things so didn’t effect a whole lot. We typically don’t heat this garage but it has never gotten below freezing in there since it is sandwiched between the house and the shop. Just pointed the exhaust of the table through the door and turned let it run for a few hours. Got it warmed up to above freezing in that time. Checked the filters In the table and was surprised to see how much dust they caught. I do have a total of 6 20x20 filters installed. Have 2 pleated furnace filters with a really inexpensive furnace filter on top of them. I might change the top filters out with pleated at some point. Was shocked to see as much dust as I did in the bottom filter. All in all am very happy with it!

Opps forgot to mention that the drawer fronts will be cherry. Will be a overlay front.

I have never seen a sheet of 5x5 sold anywhere. For the kitchen project I have priced a bunch of 3/4 4x8 birch and it’s coming in around 55-60.

Nope no domino here. It’s on the wish list but so are a lot of other tools ?. The face frames will be pocket hole Constructon and the boxes will be 3/4 ply for the sides tops and bottoms. The back will be 3/8 ply along with the drawer bottoms. Was going to use 1/2 but there was quite a difference in price to the 3/8. The drawers will be either beach or soft maple with dovetail joinery. Doors will be 5 piece solid cherry.

Yeah I have built quite a few sets of kitchen cabinets, just haven’t done a set for quite a while. Actually haven’t built a set since I gave up woodworking as a full time job with the cabinet shop. I like to build them with dados and pocket screws. Thinking about moving my power feeder to my table saw to help in the process. I am willing to share as much of the build that you guys want to see.

Here is the layout. Shouldn’t be to bad as nothing is wall to wall. Hoping to start on it soon before the weather gets to nice around here. Not sure on when the remodelers are going to start as well. I did tell the client that it will probably take me around 2 months to get it put together.

Yeah Im not a huge fan of it but dont mind them as much as you guys! I think it will be a fun project (i say that now) just concerned about the room that it is going to take up. Mentioned to the wife that the boat might be sleeping in her garage, which would mean that she has to park outside. With the below 0 temps that we have had for the last couple weeks she's not to excited about the idea. I think my biggest fear is making sure they all fit. Would hate to have to go back and redo something. I'll upload the layout of them when I get home tonight.

Yes there has been a lot of planning going on in my head, it’s been quite a while since I built a set of cabinets, roughly 13 years. Man time flies! Just a lot of little steps that if you forget one it can coat ya in the end.

Not sure where to post this but wanted to share with you guys that I got hired to build a set of cabinets for a lady in town. My sister did the design work on her remodel project and mentioned that I might be interested in doing the cabinet work. I have been spending quite a bit of time on figuring out a price for this project and think I settled on one. Let the client know and she was on board with it. Will be cherry for the fronts which I’m excited to work with. Total of 18 cabinets with 3 of them being floor to ceiling. Just waiting on a down payment from her to get going on it. Will have to order in a shaper cutter or two, also going to pick up a new spray gun for this project as well.

I did watch some videos on it, i feel fortunate that i don't have the little springs to contend with. Just a set screw that half the blade sits on so you can still get at it to adjust the height.

Yes I’ve looked at those small jigs that you mention. I did mess around with it more tonight with the straight edge and got it closer. It cuts well just not like it did from the factory. A friend of mine has a dial indicator that he is going to let me barrow. Will be curious how far off they really are.

If you make a 3/16 bead should fill it and add another dimension of depth. I’d try a few little practice strips and see what you like the best
