This is true to a point. The Makita offset is different then the Festool saw. I don't know which way but before I would let a Makita owner borrow my tracks I would want to see that their saw doesn't cut my zero clearance edge and make it useless for me. 😧

When doing something for shop furniture I don't clamp and things come out grea, but yea, when it something nice and money is on the line I clamp.

We bought the TS-55 at Woodcraft one week end. We were starting the Camphor slab table. Late in the day we found out it wouldn't cut deep enough at 45° for the slab. The following week end we went to a lumber yard in Santa Cruz that had the TS-75 on hand. I have always been happy that I bought the TS-55 from you over the bigger model. I haven't ever wished I had the larger one. If memory serves a friend of yours in Washington bought the TS-75

When I first was made aware of the track saw's existence, I thought of it as a "luxury" tool and when you think of the price it still is. Now after owning mine for 3 or 4 years, I have moved my thinking on the tool as a "game changer" in the shop. Especially in a small shop like mine.

You look to be of to a good start. I have a dealer about an hour south who's prices are lower and product is better looking then my local guy. But it isn't worth it all the time depending on how much i need.

Kids can do that to ya, grand kids are pretty good at doing it too.

In my experience stuff like this pays off in the long run even though he didn't charge you. I am sure he is the guy you would recommend if someone asked. I have done free fixes for people, it would have been interesting to keep track of the business I got from their recommendations.

I share this with one person then thought I should share with all. We have all had situations where we have had to hire someone for a task around the house only to have struggles of getting the job done properly. I had the opposite experience yesterday " I had a pretty cool tech installing the garage door today. Part of my DC ductwork was in the way of the door when opened. The wheels that ride in the track sit differently on this door then the the old one so when it is open it sits up about 3 inches higher. It was one of the more complex sections. I told him it was going to take about 90 minutes for me to move. He said let me get a drink of water and then I'll give you a hand. We were done in about 20 minutes. About five minutes in he say "I see were your going with this" and he started making moves with me instead of just being another set of hands. I wish I could of had a beer with the guy but he said he still had to go back to the warehouse so he was still going to be on company time".

I need to work on my shop organization, everything is piled on top of everything else. I would also like to get more room between my tools. Its really hard to work with things bunched up like this. My bandsaw is outside of the man door in the back ground, it would be nice to have it in the shop itself. I am going to have to work on some things to make better use of my space.

Interesting, I just looked at the link you posted. The item is out of stock, is that because they are shipping them out to people that didn't order. Or they really have a thousand of them but their in the bin that your item was supposed to be in.

I don't think I have ever seen sapwood on wenge but it looks good off center. I think if it had ended up in the center it would have looked to intentional. Do I see a chamfer detail on the stiles?

My dad taught me a lot about woodworking when I was a kid but he never really used any terminology. Then in ninth grade I took my first shop class. When the shop teacher would teach us something new, in my head I always remember thinking I know how to do that but I didn't know that is what it is called. Lol

Not to rush ahead on this project but are there going t one matching nightstands in the future?

I am sure what Kev posted is accurate information. I always thought of the apron being a table part, stretcher a chair or stool part, stile and rail door parts

The nightstands are finished. I am real happy with the color on the finished product. I will try to get some better pictures in the house. I won't be starting the bed for a month or so, I have a number of things around the house that need attention. First on the list, starting tomorrow I need to move a fair amount of the shop out of the way for the new garage door to be installed Friday AM. Just as a point of interest here is one of the existing nightstands that I was copying.

I think I would opt for a loose tenon. Rout your mortise in the end then cut the curve.

I have a task like this on our bed project. I was thinking it would go best using the router and the two edge guides. Is that the way you did it?

I had the Bosch which I always like but the power of the Milwaukee is just so superb I don't use the Bosch much anymore. The Bosch is also corded.

When I ordered the GF High Performance through your affiliate, it turned out it was coming through Rockler and I was not really happy because I really wanted to finish these nightstands before Christmas. But to my surprise It got here about four days quicker the they originally said. I know I don't like ordering from Rockler just because of the length of time for delivery. I will usually opt to waste money on gas and drive the two hour round trip to the store itself. Does Bell Forest sell Veneer? I know at least their online product photos are more accurate.
