    Welcome Tyler!

Apologies for the slow response! Welcome to the forums!
  2. When you're organized, it's just a lot easier to keep it clean. Chet's shop was well organized and clean long before I ever had the opportunity to do some projects there! I seem to be noticing this a lot more often out of Sapele as well as African Mahogany.. Not sure why, just an observation.
  3. Welcome to the forums! Good group here always willing to help! Looking forward to seeing your work!
  4. As long as it's woodworking, I'm fine with it. If it becomes a discussion other than the woodworking I'll probably have to shut it down. Often times this subject leads down a path to a politics discussion which is an absolute NO. So, I would ask that items not woodworking related on this subject be done via PM.
  5. Nice job! Looks like you'll get lots of useful storage there as well!
  6. That's a bit high for Sapele! @Chet's prices are a bit under the average. I'm around $7.50 for it. @Chet's prices in CA are starting to sound better.. Curious what's changed to cause the drop in prices?
  7. Add the cheaper 1/4 ply to the inside of that cabinet.. Again, cheaper than the other way and you don't have to change the dimensions of your cabinet to account for it.
  8. Check with your HW dealer and see if you can get it..
  9. I think if I were doing this job, I'd use the 3/4 cherry ply for the ends rather than buying the extra ply.. Maybe price compare the 1/4" ply plus the 3/4" you're using vs a sheet of 3/4" cherry ply?

    Drum sander

I have the same machine as @Chet and I prefer the open ended. It allows for double the width. That's why it's called the 19/38. Simply flick the piece around and do the other half.

    Drum sander

By leaps, yes. They're meant for baby steps. I know we all use them to remove thickness from time to time but, in the end that's not what they're for.

    Drum sander

I had the Grizz, it was my first drum sander. Biggest complaint I had about it was the DC. If you can swing it, the Supermax is awesome!
  13. All good.. I obviously should have done a better job explaining it in the video..
  14. I personally have never seen it in other than 5 x 5. I've certainly seen Birch Ply in 4 x 8 sheets but, it's not the BB ply. I'm in a hotel but, perhaps @Chet can snag a picture of the edge on BB ply? I will say that it's not very often that you ever see a void in the real stuff!
  15. The 5 x 5 stuff is the real BB ply.. Pretty nice stuff!
  16. I'm paying $50.00 a sheet.. I'm guessing @Chet's pricing must be a stack of mismarked stuff...lol. Buy it all Chet and resell it! You could make money!
  17. Indeed! Especially if there was something you make often that had a strange angle.
  18. Agreed! This option definitely works better for those that are changing angles more frequently than I am. But, when I do want to change that angle, I'm not agonizing about what it's going to do to the fence. Like many, I get lazy and avoid what I "should" do because it creates more work. I wasn't spelled out well in the original video but, after making the first one, it made perfect sense! If you don't make the thicker one, the kerf will go all the way through which is detrimental to the entire process. To be honest, I don't recall his post but, I do believe the theory is correct! I think you need some collection at the source but, collection on the saw just doesn't work. My theory is that if you control the dust to a general location and then collect it from there, you'd have a better overall DC ability at this particular piece of shop gear.
  19. Ok, I just pooped a little in my pants! Absolutely choking on your price for the BB! You live in CA! This can't be accurate! Nice job on the jig! Looking forward to watching the video!
  20. This is a "loaded" but fair question because we're talking about DC on a miter saw to start with and this one is also a Kapex. The short answer is that it's actually slightly improved because that block helps force the saw dust through the kerf in the block. Almost like a funnel if you will. The longer answer is all around DC in general when it comes to miter saws. In my opinion, regardless of brand, they are all horrible at DC, even the Kapex! I see so many posts about how great the Kapex is and I completely disagree with that statement. It might do a little better than the others but, it's still not good! Even with a dedicated CT, the area behind my saw is still full of saw dust each day. There is also a fairly wide dust field both to the left and right of my saw each day. At some point, I will add a drop on my big DC to this area to (hopefully) improve the DC on this tool. In reality, I think everyone is going about DC on this tool all wrong! All the gizmos and gadgets people come up with for DC on the miter saw is geared around collecting dust at the source. I think "we" as a community have proven this to be an impossible task! Just my opinion but, I think we need to try and contain it in a larger general area and then collect the dust from underneath. Instead of collect at the source, we need to control, contain, and then collect because we've pretty much proven the last step doesn't work well without the first 2 steps. I'm thinking about a project in the future to insert my HCM into the top on my miter station. If/when I do this project, I may add a drop from my DC into this area (since the top will be off the bench) and hard pipe under the back of my miter saw to cut down on the amount of clean up I need to do each day. Pretty much treating this entire area like a down draft table. Sorry for being long winded but, this is always a hot topic of conversation.
  21. Ok guys, this video is now live.. Enjoy!
  22. I think you'll be surprised at how fast they go together! There's so many similar parts that you can batch a bunch of them out at a time and then it's just a matter of assembly. This is also a dual edged sword! Any mistakes are replicated to each one but, the "fix" is also replicated to each one.
  23. I hate building cabinets....lol Congrats though on the commission! We're all here to help if you need it..

    Spanky's Lumber

You need to find some shipping options! I'd take a lot more from you if I could get stuff shipped reasonably!
