  1. Again, I'm going from memory here.. Check towards the very end of the instruction packet.. I know it's in there...
  2. The location of that hole was in my plans, you might take another look.. From memory, it seemed a little out of place in the plans but, it was there. With the plans, you can do all the work and install at the end if needed.
  3. This is so dead on accurate! I've really tried to pay attention to that in my videos. Yes, I pull out the domino often but, I also have videos showing how to do it without the domino. What I haven't shown is how to do what the domino does without the domino! @Chet is 2 for 2 on the video idea front! I don't have a video showing how to cut a couple mortises with the router and then making your own tenon stock to complete the joint. I'm going to have to fix that as soon as I get home!
  4. Ahmen! 1. I too have bought a lot of "stupid" stuff. But, what's "stupid" for me might make someone else's day so, I try to pass that stuff along for free as a way of paying it forward. 2. I think we all go through this but, the organization will help with that 3. Even with a Kapex and dedicated CT, this tool tosses the dust! Regardless, I don't see my shop without it. That's right for my shop, could be different for yours. 4. See answer #1. Unless they have some sentimental value, I simply try to move that stuff on to someone who wants to grow with them.

    Hi

    Welcome RIW!
  6. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve certainly had them all off the wall on a single project and there have been a few occasions I wish I had more short ones but, for the most part, adding to the collection is very low on my priority list.
  7. Regardless of what you do, clamps chew up space! There's really only a couple ideas that I haven't seen tried. Storing horizontally and flat Storing on a "carousel" Both ideas have their pros and cons
  8. The old saying goes that you never have enough clamps.. I've been pondering that thought for a while now and I'm not sure I believe in that saying like I used to.. IF I were going to add clamps today, they would probably be some pipe/bar style clamps so that I could make them really long. I might also consider replacing my smaller lighter duty Besseys with the regular K-Bodies just so they match the collection. But, that's really about it!
  9. We're all boys.. Except for my wife and the dogs! lol I went back and looked at the end of that build and it was a very quick reminder of just how tired I was at the end of that build!
  10. Just give some thought to the weight and the power of your opener.. It really is an untapped chunk of wall space!
  11. Was actually just shy of 4 days and I have the gray hair and wrinkles to show for it.. ?
  12. It always amazes me seeing a pile like that, realizing how much work is ahead, and enjoying the finished project when you go back and look at this first picture! Enjoy the journey!
  13. You could laminate an additional piece and just place them on the inside where they won't really be noticeable. In the end, I like this option because it keeps the rest of your plans on course and you'd really have to look for it to find it. I'm more of a fan of 4" by 4" for the legs on this bench. The bench is a beast and wouldn't look quite right if the legs got too thin.. Just my opinion but, that's it..
  14. lol - that's interesting! Although mine won't be on the garage door, it's something I'll try and remember to talk about in the video..
  15. I'm sure that I'll ask for new pictures just to be sure that the pictures are the ones you guys want used. Some close up shots of your designs would be helpful as well. I'll probably end up doing some plans for my final version but, will share that with you guys here first. I'll also share the final video here before it's public as well. For the record, I would never use your pictures here on a video without your permission. For that matter, I don't think I've ever used anything I've even pulled off of Google or any other site.. I understand that you put them here in a semi-public format but, wrong is wrong..
  16. Ok.. I'm really digging this and I see a video in the future! I'll certainly give credit where credit is due on the video if you guys will allow me to use your pictures?
  17. I think you'll be fine with the soft maple! To be completely honest, I've done them in both hard and soft and don't really notice any difference working on them. I also think you could have gotten away with poplar or alder but, they are even softer and more prone to the denting. Structurally, those 2 species more than likely would have been find.. As for the first bench on the new forums... I'm going to have to race home and get one built quick ? Congrats on getting the project rolling!
  18. I didn't think of this idea, that's awesome!
  19. I was thinking about using the lower space below my clamp rack to hang them horizontally.. It's unused space..
  20. That's why I hung mine but, I've always been curious about how the horizontal storage would work out.
  21. I'm curious to see how you will like the horizontal storage of the tracks in the long term.. Nice job on the organization!
  22. As much as it hurts to say, the paint looks good.. Hope you can find it in the budget to get a little padding!
  23. Just the current job.. Typically, these jobs go 4 to 6 weeks which is perfect. This one's pushing 8 weeks and there's another 4 or so to go.. The real issue is not knowing where the end is.. To compound that, the daily news is loaded with politicians using the virus as a power grab without a real care what their actions are doing. I'll follow the forum rules so, will just stop there before the rant gets me booted off my own server...lol
