  1. Excellent video, @Kev! Nice addition to any shop! Well done! Thank you for your work! 👍, RXR
  2. Hello K! 👋 I went this route - the Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab. https://www.multifunctionslab.com/the-features.html It cost me $100 for the 4x8x1 HDF and $100 to have a CNC run the program (includes a shelf) . $18.00 for the CAD program. I then went with BenchDogsUK for all the Fence and Guide Rail Dogs...etc. https://benchdogs.co.uk/ All the Woodworking best to ya! 👍 Tips 🎩, RXR
  3. They are plunge saws, respectfully. Plunge cuts can be made more safely with one (or two) of these... https://www.amazon.com/Festool-491582-Guide-Limit-Piece/dp/B001493HTW The *(or two)* was in referencing using 2 of them as stops. You can make a stopped groove with 2 of Kickback Stops. I'm just not sold on doing that on the edge of a board. 🤪 😁 👋, RXR
  4. That is a difficult cut to make with any hand-held tool. Especially making multiple passes with a circular saw of any sort. My Thought Process Machine instantly envisions disaster, to the material and/or the material handler! 😲 You've a dangerous mind, brother! 😉 😆 🍻, RXR
  5. Just a single pass with the TS? You mean the face edge of a board and not the end grain edge, right? As an anecdote; the very first cut I made with my TS, an angle cut on the Modified Ship's Ladder stringer, I approached the cut after plunging and the damn thing jumped out of the cut and nearly off the table and I was sure I had damaged either the guide rail or the saw or both. I damaged neither. But, from that time to now I make sure the TS is more FIRMLY in hand (I slowly plunge to depth) and the Kick-Back accessory is in place! I'll help where I can. Regards, RXR
  6. I share your concerns. To include Christmas (I'm not religious) but, I see how far it has drifted from its original intent, which I wholeheartedly support. And, I am a Capitalist - a poor Capitalist, but a Capitalist all the same. 😉 Some sellers make huge contributions to military/first responder organizations, so I can't fault most of them. But, on this day let's remember... "When you go home, tell them of us and say For your tomorrow, we gave our today."~John Maxwell Edmonds. Salute! RXR
  7. It Is The Warfighter It is the Warfighter, not the minister Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Warfighter, not the reporter Who has given us freedom of press. It is the Warfighter, not the poet Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Warfighter, not the campus organizer Who has given us freedom to protest. It is the Warfighter, not the lawyer Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Warfighter, not the politician Who has given us the right to vote. It is the Warfighter who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. RXR’s adaptation of Charles M. Province poem. A Thankful Remembrance this Memorial Day! All Gave Some, Some Gave All. To all those who served and sacrificed - Thank You! #SemperFidelis RXR
  8. I just finished the video over on the Tubes. Man, that came out beautifully! 👍 Excellent series as well! 👍 Thank you for the work, @Kev! 👍 😎, RXR
  9. But, you said they were helping! Just to shine a brighter light on their efforts you should send me out a t-shirt to justify their actions! 🤣 😉, RXR
  10. Greetings Kev and others! I received this email today. I don't believe I am owed a shirt. Given your message above are you handing out free "thank you" t-shirts to those that comply with the new understandings? Or am I misremembering and I am missing a shirt from back in October? 🤪 I do hope you all are well! 👋, RXR
  11. ?!!! Maybe a 'neutral' background, I would suggest! ? ?, RXR
  12. Well well. For the life of me, that looks like a tapered joint. ?, RXR
  13. See now, I had completely forgotten that. I knew it, I've seen several videos on that exact topic. Just one of those things, when you need something...it's just not there! Another excellent point. And, I plan to try locking rabbets, so that should help even more. And, yes, on the Bandy Clamps....that's the only reason I even know of them...I thought, "wouldn't those be nice to have IF I ever needed them!" ? Thank you, @Kev? ?, RXR
  14. As I said, I probably couldn't offer any help regarding your foible! ? I can say, without hesitation, that bottom board is awesome! Fantastic design! ? Is the right side of that bottom board, the right side in this picture, a tapered joint? ?, RXR
  15. Hey there, @Coop?. I have not linked a Kevs Woodworks post before but I think this gets you there. Here's to trying! ? ?, RXR
  16. Can we see it, @Kev? Not that that would help me help you but, it might help others with ideas on it. ?, RXR
  17. Hey folks! ? I'm starting on that stand I mentioned previously. I've been playing with the numbers to see what my Thought Process Machine can come up with. These are just rough sketches - the first one below is REALLY rough! ? ? The dimensions of the item the stand is for is 24-1/2 wide inches front to back x 28-1/2 inches long side to side and 10 inches deep. It weighs approximately 100+lbs. The space the stand is going in is 60 inches tall, it's the loft in the 1924 Schoolhouse. They built the loft wrong, in my opinion...but, it is what it is. I need to work with it. I started working with some actual design... After staring at the above design I started thinking about racking strength. I wanted to do some nice joinery - I wanted to 'try' for the first time, nice joinery. I'm not set up for joinery. I was thinking a break-down through-tenon & wedge joinery for the stand itself. I was thinking dovetails on the shelves at least, maybe box joints. I'm just not set up for any of that. I have a router and a router table insert. I don't have a router table. I don't have a table saw. I have a track saw. I have enough track to make long rip cuts with it. I have a junky Craftsman, extremely inaccurate, miter saw that I'd rather not use at all, but it is here in case I need it. I have the 6 inch Jointer. I have the 13-1/8 inch thickness planer. When thinking about racking strength, I hit on this design. I'm leaning towards this third design. I like how the profile looks...and it will be rack-resistant. I'm pretty sure I can make the frame to shelve joint a half-lap and I'd like to dowel pin it also using 3 pins per joint. I don't have a dowel cutter, so I'm not sure how I'd accomplish that! ? So, I'm open to ideas. The very top part is a light-duty part-time sort of holder/rack. The dimensions on the second sketch are mostly accurate. The space is 60 inches tall. The top of the piece will be approximately 48 inches off the floor (maybe a tiny bit taller). The top shelf will be 24 inches off the floor. The middle shelf will be 12 inches off the floor. The bottom shelf will be where it winds up being, but I do want the bottom shelf boxed in. I don't want it open, I want it closed off. I'm pretty sure I can make interlocking rabbets on the shelves although I've never made a rabbet joint ?. In that third sketch I have already changed the orientation of the half-laps. I'll be using that Red Oak and I thought the diagonal braces would look good at full heights instead of the other way around. So, mentally reverse the 'dashed lines' ? What I really haven't worked out at all is how to prevent side-to-side racking. The only idea I have had on the side-to-side racking is making a cross brace in the bottom shelf area, just extending from the bottom shelf up to the middle shelf. Any ideas on any of it? A better design? A proven design? Better joinery I can do with the tools listed above? A good way to dowel pin the frame to shelf connection without a dowel maker (I can buy some dowel rod)? I have a hand-plane, a #4 (maybe a #5), I think...but, which ever plane it is, the iron is garbage. The guy I bought it from used a grinder to put an edge on it, and did a horrible job of doing it (it's burned blue and wavy as all get out! ?). I don't have a good way to create a new edge on it, yet. I hope you're all well! @Kev, I have watched your latest videos, the catch of goodies and the Harvey MG 36 Zero Clearance videos. Great work! I'm interested in what you have in store with the Bandy Clamps ? Make it a great week! ? ?, RXR
  18. I almost forgot. I broke out a set of tools I have had for a very long time. My favorite Aunt gave them to me at least two decades ago - probably a decade longer than that. They've probably been to more states than many Americans! ? ? In original boxes, albeit worse for wear. I had never used them before this day. I don't believe anyone had used them...I think they're pretty neat! It was pretty ? putting them into service. ?, RXR
  19. Thank you, @Coop! That T5 light frame is in place and in service. I was going to post of picture of it in place and in service but I don't want to violate Kev's magnanimous gesture in allowing me to post my related threads here. I tried to modify the image to exclude my new residents of the female persuasion but it pretty much destroys the image and likely wouldn't make sense to any viewer. I'll start a new thread in the appropriate forum with a new project. Not much more on this one. I did apply one coat of oil-based Polyurethane just to see what the "defects" looked like. The prettiest T5 Frame going!!! ? ? I had planned a stand to rest the counterpart to this T5 frame on but the residents arrived before I could accomplish that project. ?, RXR
  20. Thank you, sir! The posts may identify the purpose of the project. T5 Frame, for instance. That is a project I just completed, except for 'finish' (I'm undecided). I only started this thread because I wanted post what I was doing and imagined getting a "Well, yes...nice - but what is it, what will it be used for?". I abhor lying and I didn't want to lie. I would have preferred not posting it than to lying about it. "but, what is it?" It is a frame to mount T5s on, would be my honest response. I would have never brought politics into it. I am on the mind that it is not the Government's place to control what an Adult citizen does in their own home that does not violate law or another citizens Constitutional rights. Beyond that, it is not political at all for me. Thank you again, @Kev! I appreciate ya! Regards, RXR
  21. I caught this the day it dropped! Excellent Zero Clearance Fence! Excellent video, @Kev! Nice attribution, too! Solid move! Thank you for your efforts! Regards, RXR
  22. I haven't fallen over the edge of this Flat Earth ?. I have been trying different machine layouts and getting the Grizzly 6" Jointer operational. I'm trying to figure out an extension cord I could make to let me use the Delta 22-650 13" Thickness Planer up and running before I can get the shop wired - a temporary work-around. Here's my serious question(s): Would anyone object to my posting woodworking projects pertaining to my Cannabis Cultivating needs here? Would you accept an aspiring woodworker posting woodworking projects for Cannabis Cultivation here? Something I never planned to do here in Missouri I did. I applied for and the Dr. approved my use of Medical Cannabis for my Chronic Pain and pain related Insomnia. I know some well intentioned Americans still sees Cannabis usage as just something a Pothead does. I have access to Pharmaceutical Poisons I don't care to take. I normally tough out my pain (the Marine in me ?). I prefer a natural pain reliever; Cannabis. The State has approved for my usage of Cannabis. I also applied to Cultivate Cannabis. The State has approved my cultivating Cannabis. I have been working on some woodworking projects I need for my indoor gardening of Cannabis. I have been reluctant to post any of this work because I was unsure if it would be accepted here. I don't want to upset the apple cart. I won't post these woodworking projects here IF you'd rather I didn't. But, if my work in this area is not accepted here there may be periods of absence from me ? Know that I am doing this legally. I'm doing this because I need pain relief and I need to get some rest (you folks call it sleep. I quit calling it sleep a long time ago). Also know, I don't like hiding what I am legally allowed to do. What say you all? P.S. I was growing my own medicine in Colorado. I'm actually pretty good at it. IF I can help any of you all with facts or information regarding this topic just ask, please. I'd be happy to help in any way I am able. That is IF Kevs Woodworks doesn't banish me for my activities! ?? Regards, Richard (RXR)
  23. I struggled with this for a good minute yesterday, trying to get the 4" Dust Right Hose on to the 5"to4" reducer at the DC. I was unsuccessful. Was going to try again when I got a ladder for a better working advantage. Instead, I grabbed a gray 4" hose that came with my Craigslist 1 stage Delta 2 Stage Delta 50-850 1.5HP Dust Collector and put that on, then still no way to continue on the with Dust Right 4" hose. Last night I thought maybe I'd buy a Piston Ring Assembly installation tool, it's sort of the same operation. I was this close to pushing the "Buy It Now" button, when I saw that that wouldn't work because that ring tool itself would be in the way of extracting it and leaving the fitting IN the hose. Then I started looking at all of my DC hose fittings and I came across some remnant 5" metal ducting. Remnants I received with the Craigslist purchase and that I've kept around for this entire time with no reason to - except, well ? ? Since last night my Thought Process Machine was working overtime on how to make it work. I found a way. I used the remnant 5" metal ducting as an open funnel. After thoroughly deburring both the I.D. and the O.D. edges, I reduced its diameter and put that in the hose, then separated it along its pittsburgh joint (for lack of a better term) and put the handle of the Rockler Dust Right Quick Change Handle through that opening and pushed it into place in the hose....as close as I could get and as best I was going to be able to get into the hose. I got about 90% of the fitting into the hose, then was able to walk the hose the rest of the way not fitting. It actually went better and easy than I expected. I was going to post this up to this point and comment that I will change this typical hose clamp with a Bridged Hose Clamp when I found the ones I know I have here. I found them when I was looking again for a way to get that Rockler hose on the reducer. I'm not sure the same method will work up on the reducer but I have a thought that it will - once I can get a better advantage up there. ***IF not sooner!*** ? ?, RXR
  24. I just saw it drop (like what the kids are saying! ?). Nice tool! Make it it a great day! ?, RXR
  25. Awesome story! I like it! An industry, as you now know, I am quite familiar with. We never installed an exhaust system without it also including a fire extinguisher system after we were done. I also worked in California's highly regulated food industry for a while where those systems were required by regulations. This being just one... The Tenderloin. (I wasn't there until after this picture was taken) It was a highly regarded restaurant (I don't remember the "star" rating - although it did have one). I remember it being a Prime Rib restaurant. I remember it that way maybe because I got a free dinner every day before I started my shift as a busboy - I opted for Prime Rib, of course! ? . My Uncle Chuck got me my job there - he was Maitre'D. My favorite Uncle (pictured with my favorite Aunt - Aunt Sissy (Mary) from whom I obtained these photographs). Charles and Mary McGee. R.I.P. Both. "Slides" and Black Socks, Uncle Chuck always drove fashion! ? Socks have always been overrated! ? IF it weren't for school I never would have worn socks or shoes (California in my growing up years). "a dock hand"? At a fresh or saltwater port, or as a 'lumper' on a dry dock, an inland (landlocked) warehouse? I hope your financial future is secured through your deals and your persistence to continue when you need not! I like history so much, I could hear more of yours - IF you care to tell it. I don't know your age but, I will say this without knowing it. I am conversationally attracted to those older than myself. I always have been. They hold the history, the knowledge and the wisdom. I try to impart on those younger than myself what I have learned from those wisened sources. High regards (I also don't know your "star" rating but I'm sure you have one! ? ), RXR
