  1. I’ve made thru dominos before but not intentionally? 😳
  2. Pocket holes from below sounds like a darn reasonable idea.

    Track Saws

I guess, as saw horses are required either way when working with ply, I might as well just stick with the setup I have. As is, I can pull the ply from my truck or trailer onto the 1” pink foam board laying on the grass or driveway. I cut the foam board to be just shy of 96” to accommodate the clamps for my guide.

    Track Saws

Appreciate all of the advice! The strips you mention on the track to hold it in place, are these some type of high friction rubber strips? Yes, the biggest majority of my use would be for breaking down sheet goods so regardless of whether I use my setup or a track saw, clamps are required in my case and suggested with the track saw. My biggest bitch now is that to use mine with the clamps, a set of saw horses are required. I was hoping that with a track saw, that wouldn’t be the case.

    Track Saws

Not to distract from or hj the previous thread by @KoDean, I thought I would start my own. Over the years there have been many threads about the track saw and at the time, I had no interest and paid no attention but now I think this needs to be my next purchase. But before spending my grandkids inheritance, I thought I better do some research. Right now, I use an aluminum track that is in two 4’ sections and can be joined together. There are two screw type clamps that hold it to the ply on each end. The foot of the circ saw rides against the edge. Due to the clamps, the ply can’t be laid flat on a piece of styrofoam on the floor so saw horses or other type of support is required. Questions: 1) How does the track attach to the sheet goods? 2) Festool seems to be the King here but are there others almost just as good 3) corded or dc powered I have done some research but trust opinions here as apposed to some yahoo that gets paid by a sponsor.
  6. I took my armoire to my brothers house today to put the primer coat on. You are right. To fill the hose probably took a pint of paint. He has made an adapter to his sprayer to reclaim the paint in the hose using air pressure. Thank goodness as I will be using Benjamin Moore paint at $75 per gallon.

I use an iPad so I’ll just be creative😀

    New Badges

Is there a legend as to what each badge represents?
  9. Congrats Bob. Don’t forget that the suggested bolts for the track for the sacrificial fence are not the ones you want as they don’t fit.
  10. Marc recently did a video on past outdoor projects he built, using different finishes and how they survived. Might look it up. His take was that UV exposure was worse on finishes as a whole, than the other elements, if I recall correctly.
  11. BW, I built two Adirondack chairs and a side table from cypress about 7 years ago and except for the ends of the feet, they have held up extremely well. I should have coated the feet ends with epoxy. These have been uncovered and outside under a tree since I built them. I am also replacing my purple Martin house with cypress ones as they get older. I think you would be happier with a solid top rather than having spaces between your boards. Easier to clean and refinish and a laminated solid top won’t allow individual boards to bow. As much as I like mesquite, it’s sold as exotics here in Houston and way out of my price range. Also long straight lumber is almost impossible to find.
  12. Bryan, originally, I tied the panel on the bottom section into the legs instead of having stiles as I thought it was too small of an area to have stiles. Then, building the top section, I thought it a good idea to have stiles as really, I didn’t have much choice. Now my dilemma is to tie the two together. The two rails or aprons (your definition) of the reveal on the rails is only 1/4” so I’m not sure what kind of decorative molding I could use. I may just go with a smaller stile on both sides as Kev suggests or just no stile at all on the bottom. This piece will fit diagonally in the corner of the room so I’m not sure if anyone will notice, regardless. Also, wife has picked a rose color with glaze so I bet the construction part will never be noticed. 😏
  13. They are two different sizes. The bottom pic shows no “artificial “ stiles on the bottom section and the top pic shows them in place. The intent was to bring the upper stile lines straight down into the bottom section which they are but the camera angle doesn’t reflect that. So Kev, your thought is to make the inserted bottom stiles the same width as the one on the right and not try and line them up?
  14. One of my early on questions was should I continue the stile lines from the top section, down thru the bottom? Pictures with and without.
  15. All I see is a page to register. Nothing else. Maybe it’s because I’m on an iPad?
  16. I would have bought it years ago to replace my Incra, if nothing else but for the fact that there are thumb screws instead of Allen screws for all adjustments. I gave my Incra to my brother who was still using his stock SS and he’s tickled pink! Yeah, it’s a luxury item but so was my bs when I bought it!
  17. Thanks for the compliment but like success at the BJ table, there was a bunch of luck involved. And thanks for advice from you and Bryan and Chet. Otherwise I would have probably wimped out and done overlay, not saying overlay are not nice but I just wanted the challenge.
  18. Good idea. Yeah, they are much better than I ever thought me with a hand plane and the adjustability of the euro hinges would ever get.
  19. I got maybe too damn lucky on the two inset doors. I cut some thin strips and sanded them down to 1/16” on the drum sander and worked the doors to where these strips fit nicely around the edges and between the doors. Sitting here tonight planning the spraying of one primer coat, two base coats and one clear top coat and got to thinking about how thick these will be. Should I mill a tad more off of all four sides of the two doors to accommodate the paint? I could probably eliminate the clear coat as I am using Benjamin Moore’s cabinet paint per Chet’s satisfaction on his cabinets.
  20. Hey bud, I accept your bluntness and totally agree! Unlike most of my family that can’t walk across carpet without some sort of shoes on, I hate the confinement. Home from work prior to retirement and it was shoes off, regardless of the next step or condition. I definitely need to reconsider.

Might be the answer to your conundrum as well! That and a number 2 pencil! 😀 I like simple!

When I saw the title of this thread, I was hoping you were introducing a Woodworking wall hanger in your store. Bryan, glad I’m not alone in the old school! 🎓
  23. And after the comment about the pin on the router table, perhaps I should rethink about working in the shop barefooted? 😳
  24. Now that’s darn cool! what is the proposed advantage of the Rubio over other finishes? I would have thought maybe as it is a two part, that the finish would be harder and more durable but you’re thinking otherwise?
