Why don’t you do the bevel and back at the same time on each stone? Once you set the guide for the bevel, there’s plenty of clearance to do the back. I hope! Perhaps I’ve been doing it incorrectly? Yeah, the width you mentioned is correct. I think they just want you in the center of the guide.

Me, I would compare their performance to the ones that were sharpened to your satisfaction. If they hone up, then your good to go. If not, go thru the process. Or, use them as throw down chisels, everyone has some of those to scrape glue, etc.

One of the many truck sales people that I’ve encountered in the last few weeks, makes knives and also makes the sheaths. He showed me a couple and I was impressed with both.

Kev, just out of curiosity, why make the face frame before the carcass? To me, that would be like cutting the tenon before the mortise. I too am definately not a cabinet maker.

Nor am I on the scald you tongue type peppers. I prefer flavor over heat. I prefer jalapeños, hot to not terribly hot. I’ve already picked a dozen or so with also some Hatch peppers.

Is that the real deal? At Outback, if you don’t ask, they will bring you a horseradish sauce which don’t cut it! I tried typing in shirts in the search block to find the thread for the new Kev’s shirts and nothing popped up. Maybe it’s my iPad? Anyway, when I got out of the shower, I put on a pair of black and white checked pajama pants and a black short sleeved Kev’s Wood Working shirt to watch tv in. My wife said, “darn, you look good in black”! Fingers crossed! ?

After the drop in price of oil, Houston wood prices followed suite. Don’t know the correlation. Premium cherry is now below $3.25 bf and they will load it for you curb site.
