  1. Welcome bud to the forum(s)!
  2. Only one of three sources of hardwood have it here and they sell it rough cut as exotics and it’s $10.48 bf.
  3. So the pic you show is from the lumber yard where you can see the grain that you are getting? My sources here offer rough sawn and S4S as the only two choices and the grain on the rough sawn is a crap shoot.
  4. I get confused. Is S3S not sold by the linear ft., and not bf?
  5. I think the rounded feet look better. Justification to buy another lathe and tools! ?
  6. The bottom and top of the bed post looked to be turned.
  7. This is really gonna be cool to follow! I’m as equally impressed with your grid drawings as I am with the design and wood. You have a lathe?

    Drum sander

That has to be darn handy, not to have to swap out grits but I can’t visualize how it works. Do the drums roll in and out of place?

I have the Jet 16/32 and nothing to compare it to, I think it to be under powered. Gotta take baby steps with it.
  10. Never thought about doing that. Beats the heck out of using 3/4” cherry ply.
  11. You mentioned that nothing is wall to wall. Will the exposed carcass/box sides be cherry ply?
  12. Nah! You did good. I was was just wondering what kept it from blowing apart with just the dt’s holding the two sides apart. Now I see! Thanks
  13. I see now. So the block is thick enough so that the blade does not go all he way through it. I’m just a tad slower than most! ?
  14. Kev, did you determine that a thick backer block was needed from experience or was it suggested by the guy you got the idea from?
  15. Jamie, don’t remember, do you have a Domino? Also, what will the boxes be made of?
  16. Would like to see the layout!
  17. Way to go Jamie! Keep us updated on the progress.

    Spanky's Lumber

Perhaps he could team up with Amazon, however that works? Spanky would have to hire help and could retire 6 months later!
  19. Before your last posted pics, I still wasn’t featuring how this would look. But the back boxes being lids for the back section is a novel idea! Great looking project and execution!

    Spanky's Lumber

That’s a shame for it to have to go into pallets!
  21. Hey @b1rdhunter! Welcome bud!
  22. Thanks all for the compliments and guidance thru this project. I received some very good advice from y’all! Not sure where I would sign and date it? Maybe at the top of the side of the lock stile? Might be a little pretentious to sign it on one of the glass panels!?
  23. As no workers showed today, it gave me a chance to get the glass in. My part of the remodel is complete. The margin at the top of the door is the same as the hinge side, the shadow makes it look wider.
  24. My watch has hands, not feet. Must be missing something?
  25. Instead of proofs in the pudding pics, I will wait until I get the glass in to wrap this up. Our granddaughter is coming in from college tomorrow to have lunch with us so it will probably be a day two away, whatever that is. Chet, being retired, do you have trouble keeping up with what day it is or do you care! ?
