Thinking through this a bit this morning and I'm thinking large finger joints for the corner connections with screws and caps to reinforce.. Simple dados for the dividers. Thoughts?
Oh, and my DC is full again. I realized it on time this time as I started breaking down the stock for these pieces.
I may be late to answer, but what about doing a single dovetail? It could be a different look, should be easy to cut, but then again it could also look crappy. Maybe a test in some scrap pine.

Mistakes happen and they can make you feel defeated. I have a serious question, do you feel that you make more mistakes when you are filming? Next question, do you feel that because of your work schedule being home and trying to get a lot of projects done in that time leads to more mistakes? My mistake that was 2 questions, see we all make them! 😀😀

What does she actually want built? I would help, but since they are “large pieces”, I probably don’t have the room, plus I’m still 6 hours away from Maine. I don’t really know any woodworkers in New England area, but I could ask on the Sawmill Creek forum if you wanted me to get a few names to pass on.
-
I’m probably the closest member to Maine, but still incredibly far. I think you need to find a way to crate and ship. I don’t know if you watch Blacktail Studio on YT but he may be someone to ask cause he has sent projects from Oregon to NY.

You’re right. I see now that’s behind the piece and not on top. Thanks.
No problem

Kev, in the most recent second pic, what is the lighter colored board on top of your walnut piece used for?
I think it’s an auxiliary fence for miter gauge.

How come you didn’t use your HCM? Dry fit looks good!
-
Is the permanent top going on after the changing table is done being used? If so how are you attaching to the casework? What are you doing for a finish? I’m not sure what works well with the potential for accidental 1 & 2 exposure.

Great way to help out another! I have gotten scrap from members of other forums. Sometimes the piece can be a good way to practice a new technique with something other than pine or other softwood.

Turned out really nice Coop!

Coop, this is cheating! Your using power tools to cut parts for a miter box, this should be done by hand! Looks good though.

Same height as the counter surface?

I agree, that became a really easy choice.

There's actually a place right here in town that is listed as a dealer.. Now, with that said, I would be really surprised if they actually had on on hand...lol. I'm sure they're not a hot seller where I live...lol
If they had that might make the decision super easy!

The one in your original post was not out of line price wise.. I've edited my post to include this machine being in the mix for viable options. I think most of you know I'm not a tool slob and genuinely want what's best for my shop and workflow.
I need to do some looking to see availability.. The first 2 listed are currently available according to their websites..
I haven’t looked at all the places in a long time, but I believe it can be had through Amazon, Woodcraft, Acme, and there was a place Circle Saw in Houston that carries Rikon and heard they have a good reputation, but I know you will do your research on features and availability.

I would love to justify the Harvey.. I've reached out to them with some honest questions basically aimed at why is their machine worth more that one with a longer industry reputation.
I've grown to like Rikon a lot! A little more expensive than either listed above but, certainly has the capacity I'm wanting..
I edited my previous with the less expensive 18” model. I know there may not be a lot of reviews, but some wood turners I watch on occasion use it. They throw large logs at this thing and it has no issues.

If I was buying a new BS this is what I would get. In my opinion it is the best bang for the buck, plus it would handle everything, even that rare situation.

They also have the 10-342 which is a little les robust, but also costs less
