  1. I have never used a quilt so obviously never had a need to build a rack.  I’m guessing a couple on a rack could get heavy, but 8/4 seems too stout.  I would think 5/4 would be enough, but then again, I have no clue.

There's a lot of it that's pretty but, there's a stretch in Eastern WA that is my least favorite road to cross in this entire country!  About 3 hours of the trip that's about like driving across Kansas.. 😉

That sounds like my drives from college back home.  Once you have seen 6 hours of cornfields, you learn it’s a better drive at night.

  3. As for mounting options, since you are still working I would go with the least work, but slightly higher price, especially if these become a semi production item.

This would be a great place for a laser engraver where you could personalize for the kids room it’s going in.  Wood burning could accomplish the same thing just more time consuming.  Now the counter to this, would you may be limited to species like maple or other light wood for it to show up good.

  4. No need to apologize to us.  We have all been there at some point.  I agree with Kev about small claims court, however if you have no documentation it could be a crap shoot.  The other option is tell her she has 3 options, 1) paint the garage by a certain date, 2) pay you for materials, 3) tell her your coming to remove the island.

it is a little loose because the motor is not all the way front left, when it is in the front it is decently tight. It gets real loose when its over on the right side of the table ... I just dont have enough room above the CnC to make it work better

Gotcha, I know there has to be some give cause it needs to move to different parts of the table.

  6. Jamie.  Is there any way you can just get a refund from HD.  It may be worth looking at the hitachi saws from Lowe’s.  I have the 12” slider that can slide forward or back.  It is built like a tank, but it has been accurate and remains that way even after I move.  I don’t have space to keep set up permanently.

  7. I would find a somewhat hidden spot just outside of the shop, take 2 sticks and pound them in the ground and make a little clothesline you can drape over the line or use a clothes pin if windy.  This gets them off the ground.

  8. You could search console cabinet, or tv stand.  I usually search for stuff online or go to furniture store and take some pictures with phone. The good thing is you can get basic measurements as well.  Just need to remember the following phrase “it’s going in a unique location and got to see if it fits”.

I have no idea how I missed the last post with all of the pics? That is a thing of beauty! Very well done. An heirloom for sure!

You were on a holiday bender and it wasn’t over until after New Years! 😀

  10. I don’t think there is a rule of thumb, I think having a few random widths would be good, or whatever uses less material.  Since your width is 19”, at some point your going to have a different board, so I would incorporate 1 or 2 random widths.  So if you went 1 1/2”, that would be an even number to 18”, that would leave a single 1” board, which may look like you just ran out of boards and added an extra to make up for it being short.
