  1. By the time we came up with the idea to build this small turntable stand/record cabinet as a Christmas gift, it was too late to get it done by Christmas.  But as it turns out that was a good thing because when we gave my son in law a gift wrapped scrap of wood and told him what it represented, he asked if he could observe to whole build process.

I was more than happy to have him in the shop but it did add a few twists to the process.  It's a little bit of a challenge to do all you thinking plotting and planning out load.  The other thing, it has been a long time since I worked on a project where my work time was dictated by days off, his not mine.  He was surprised to find out that the only mechanical fasteners were six screws and six figure 8's to hold the top on.

Made from Cherry, here're a couple of pictures.

  2. I have the TS55 and use it for mostly breaking down sheet goods and an occasional cross cut on projects that were too large for the table saw.  I have never really wanted or needed what the TS75 has over the TS55.  I haven't used the TS75 but have been in the room when one was being used and it seemed like more saw, size wise then I would need.  But that is something you will have to decide for yourself.

Wow, I’d give my left …… little finger for that much space!

Coop, it would give you a good reason to buy more tools too.  You would need something to clutter up all that horizontal surface.

I honestly didn’t know it ever got that cold in the lower 48 states!

back in 1975 Kathy and I were on a ski vacation in Vail Colorado.  One day we took   the lift to the top a Vail Mountain, we got off the lift, looked at the temp gauge, -35.  We skied back down to the warmth of the lodge and called it a day.

  5. I was just thinking about this last night with things that have gone in our life this pasted year, my wife's surgery and our car being totaled at the end of November just to mention a couple.  But we both talk constantly about how blessed and fortunate we are because of the true event of Christmas.

To all a Very Merry Christmas!

  6. All I can say is that when I draw up plans for myself, I will make notes on another page, listed in a rough order of construction.  They are basically notes to remind me to "do this before you do that" so I don't back myself into unwanted corners along the way.

Back in the ‘80’s, the AHJ started requiring drawings of our proposed fire suppression system installations to obtain permits. We bought a used tilt top drafting table but it was a little much for an 8 1/2 x 11” drawing so I found this. It has served me well.

I once had something similar but it  held up to 11 x 14 sheets.  I can't even think of what happened to it.

  8. If option 1 doesn't work or is going to end up looking like a bad after thought, I think I would take the time and go with option 3.  Option 2 sounds like it might end up looking like a Frankenstein project.

Take some time and think it through.  Even if you leave your outfield bench back from the saw by 2 or 3 inches from the saw to make the DC work for now, the bench will still serve its purpose.

I promise I didn't pay anywhere near that for those lights!

I didn't even begin to think you did.  A couple of years ago I found one in the catalog from that router bit company that Marc used to talk about, I think at the time he had a small palm router from them.  The company's name was three letters.  But anyway Kathy tried to order them for a Christmas gift for me but they were out of stock.  hey we $24 at the time.

  10. Kev, that is the style I have been looking for but I am guessing that they aren't out there much anymore because of all the led offerings.  I did find one online the other dat that looked pretty much like yours but it was $165 a copy. 😲  Didn't you get the articulating one with you Laguna bandsaw?

  11. I am looking for a light for my bandsaw.  It's the Laguna 1412 which came with a light but it is the older style light, not the ones they have now with the articulating arms.  The one I have just doesn't have any useful range.  This has me looking for something with a strong magnetic base because it will be in a vertical mounting situation and some sort of adjustability  like a gooseneck or something.

    Any recommendations?

He's got it centered up nicely so, I really don't see this being an issue.

I haven't had an issue with it at all.  I sit at the end for dinner but in the morning for breakfast and coffee I sit on the side so I can spread my news paper out better and it works fine... no bruised shins here.
