Has anybody ordered from Bell Forest recently?  I have tried for a couple of days to contact them, there is no answer on the 877 number and the local number listed on their web page has been disconnected.

I just got an order from them..  I usually just email them with what I want and they get back to me pretty quickly with a quote..

@Bob, just a wood porn question, what are you wanting to order?

Around 30bft of 8/4 Walnut.  Locally it is $19 a bft + 10% tax.   Bell Forest is $11.90, I don't know what shipping and taxes will be but I am hoping it will still be a savings.  I can drive for about 2hrs, with a  round trip ferry and might save a little but I doubt it.

Thanks Bob, just wondering what prices go for on different woods. I realize different prices for different spices for different areas. In Houston, I have 3 suppliers that I go to. The most expensive with the best selection has 8/4 walnut for $11.25 per bf and I thought that to be darn expensive. Thanks for responding.

Windsor in Bellingham?

I went through that with them on the maple for my OF table and ordered all that material from BF as well.

Yea, I try to work with the manager and he is pretty good about dropping a couple of bucks off of the bft price for most of my buys,  but he won't budge on walnut.

Exactly what I went through on the maple..  It was cheaper for me on that project even with the shipping.

What lengths do they ship and how do they ship?

They'll ship full lengths..  All of my maple came in full lengths..

The 12/4 walnut that I ordered for the Demilune table came in a much shorter piece because that's what I needed.

When you get the quote from them, it includes the shipping cost.

By full lengths, do you mean 8’-10’? Are these shipped motor freight or I guess cheapest way possible?

On your table, did you just order x amount of 12/4 and hope for the best, with no selection process?

Yes 8 to 10' shipped cheapest possible.

As for the selection process, you can be very precise about what you want.  They will handpick your boards to ensure you're getting what you ask for.

Bell Forest got back to me this morning.  Their bt cost went up to 13.25 + shipping.  Even with that, the total cost is  $200 and change less than what I would pay locally.  I ordered the wood.  Now I wait...

Awesome!

I've order quite a bit from them and always been happy hopefully you have the same experience.

I've had one board from them that was just not useable and they replaced it without issue.
