  1. Just think if your next gig is in Iowa, could pull out the 1800 and bring it along. By time you get home the Harvey would be there! Have been watching the used market pretty regularly. Not much moving right now. I like the 4 piece set that is linked above. Seems like a pretty good deal.
  2. Dust collection upgrade. The Frankenstein I have put together works ok, but with the bigger drum sander I need more cfm. Should’ve pulled the trigger on the clear view before the price went up $900. I agree with you fully on that comment. It’s just hard to buy bigger tools at this point in my life with 2 kids. The last cabinet build funded most of all the tool upgrades last year. Drum sander, miter saw, line borer, cordless drills, clamps, moulding planer, sprayer (which I don’t think I’ve shared with you guys) and a few other bits and cutters. Basically I didn’t pocket any of the funds and put them all back into tools. I really don’t want this to feel like a job again. Finally enjoying my time in the shop again.
  3. I did put these up to my igaging 4” and it was dead nuts on. I like your thinking on the saving money part. Need to be saving more for the next big purchase, might have to take on another cabinet build to make it happen. 😡
  4. As @Kev mentioned they are the fixed version. Will say that I am eying the adjustable ones next.
  5. Look what showed up today! 30 seconds of use in the shop and I see these as life changers!
  6. Thats a new one for me! Nice find!
  7. Hopefully you used the affiliate link!
  8. True points. And with it going above the grand child and not your own kid you really cant mess around!
  9. Never thought about that. I have used them before on some shelves for the wife, strength of them has never been an issue. But there again there isnt much weight on them.
  10. $24 to mount them? Wouldnt these work for ya? https://www.amazon.com/Tulead-Keyhole-Hangers-Mounting-Hardware/dp/B07THH18C5/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2Q7F4JT8Y5DEB&keywords=shelf+hangers+mounting+hardware&qid=1650416907&sprefix=shelf+hangers+mounting+%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-7
  11. That is a neat idea! Did you modify a light the same way he did?
  12. Man those look great! Im going to have to go back in your video library and figure them out. Wife has a birthday coming up in a few weeks

I really like all the ideas here! It shouldve been a big red flag when a gal like her who is 35 and single yet in this area. Not a lot of gals to go around so when one is single yet at her age there has to be something troubling. Im seriously done with her at this point. I honestly hope our paths never cross again. As far as the friend who brought her over to my place, he is a damn good buddy. She played on a softball team with her and did the same type of deal for her as I did. He wired her kitchen up in exchange for her painting his garage. She was really fussy about painting his garage so I thought what the heck. Just have to chalk this one up to more tuition payments. Never done learning I guess.
  14. I like the light system idea, seems like it would be a lot more accurate than the laser.
  15. Yeah I wouldnt trust it for a finish cut, but for rough cutting it works nice. Made a few rough out cuts the other day and it takes some of the guess work out of lining things up. I mean these boards I was cutting were some scrap pieces to put under a chicken waterer, not much accuracy needed in that situation. Thanks! It slides pretty smooth. Not as smooth as the glide mechanism on the bosch, but for a pipe system it is about as smooth as expected. I really like the soft start motor on it. Its gentle but starts a lot quicker than the bosch.
  16. So I thought I would take a second and explain my absence as of late. With the kitchen cabinet build I took on last summer and doing the installation of it, I hit a rut. I completely burnt myself out. Also mixed In an island project for a client who was a complete pain didn’t help. The island was a project that I did in trade for a friend of a friend. She does painting and I hate to paint. The wife’s garage is in need for a fresh coat so the deal was I build her an island and she paints the garage. Each buying their own materials, I buy my own paint and she pays for the material for the island. Building the island I felt like I went above and beyond on it. Solid wood panels on all sides. It had a funky drawer in it to hold paper towels. Along with roll outs and a trash bin. It all went together perfectly and I was happy with it. Until the stain had to go on it. I stained it like I normally would, put it on and wipe it off. Should mention she supplied the stain. Sent her a few pictures of it as she requested and got a hard no on the color. After talking with her a few times I had her come over and show me how she applied stain so we could get the color correct. Basically ended up putting another coat of stain on without wiping it off. Was just about like painting with stain. Complete nightmare to get it to even out. Which I never did get it to look worth a shit in my mind. Anyways let it dry a few days and put some lacquer on it. Delivered it and handed her the bill on materials. Granted I had a receipt for every item. That wasn’t quite good enough for her and she complained quite a bit about the price. At this point my garage hasn’t been painted yet and I’m almost thinking I’m just going to do it myself. As much as I hate to paint I don’t think it would pain me as much as dealing with that woman again. With all that being said, I really just needed a break from it all. I wasn’t enjoying my time in the shop anymore and it was feeling more and more like a job. I was having almost the same feeling around the time that I left the cabinet shop, just didn’t like the shop and dreaded every process. When I left the cabinet shop job I totally switched careers and it changed my life. It took me quite a while after leaving there to even want to build anything of any sorts. So I completely stepped away for a short time. Not knowing how long of a break it would be. I quit watching YouTube woodworking videos, reading about topics and even talking about it here with you guys. I would really like to apologize to each and every one of you for not taking the time to even explain my absence. In the last couple weeks I jumped back into the shop. Am currently working on a Morris chair which I did start back in November. Had just some material roughed out and legs glued up at the point which I stopped. It is the plans from the wood whisperer guild. Am about half way through with it currently and am excited to share the end results with you guys. Thanks again for being an awesome and understanding group. You guys really do push my motivation and myself to try new things and to always strive to get the best results.
  17. New saw got delivered last Friday. Did take a little time over the weekend to get it in place. Didn’t take much adjustment to the saw stand fences to make it all come together. Will have to buy a new stick down tape measure. Fences aren’t bolted down into place yet. The Mikita saw wasn’t quite perfect out of the box. Went through the directions and got it set up. The nice thing was that the fence system on the saw was co planer! Did have to square the cut to the fences but was a simple process. Overall first thoughts on the saw is that it is pretty impressive piece of equipment. Tons of adjustment built in. This is the first saw that I have had with a laser on it and despite being skeptical about having it, I must say the few cuts I’ve made on this saw it has been pretty handy. Will give it a little more time and let you guys know what I think.
  18. Id go the the lacquer route just to get them done quickly. Plus side to lacquer on a piece like this is it wont water mark. Nicely done! They look great! Not going to be showing my wife these, I know she would find a spot for a few of them!
  19. Yep have looked at the starrett as well, just didnt mention it. I did have my hands on a starrett about 20 years ago and couldnt believe how smooth they moved. My milwaukee is square yet as well. Handy little thing! I was leaning towards the 6/8 combo up until last night when I watched a video on the 12. Wasnt a good move on my end to have the volume up as much as I did, wife overheard what the price of them are and kinda gave me a look. I didnt even see her looking at me, more so felt the gaze from across the room. Pick one......starrett combo or the 6/8 set?
  20. At first glance, the thought of a locking miter would work for the legs. Have used them in the past, a little tricky to set up but once you find that sweet spot they really make for a strong joint. My only concern with the top cubby is leaving enough working depth. The desk I made for my daughter out of a walnut slab is like 22" at its widest. With her laptop and papers on the top, it doesn't leave much working room. I also added a strecher across the back, which she uses as a foot rest. I think with your leg style you would want one going on 3 sides of the desk for sure.
  21. Ok....Is a high priced square worth the money? After this whole miter saw ordeal I have been thinking that I really need to update my squares. Currently I have a drawer of a few adjustable squares that aren't exactly square. A nice wooden handled steal square that also doesnt stand up to a line test. A few carpenter speed squares that are actually true. Btw I really like the 4" Milwaukee trim square. Last but not least the crown jewel of the drawer is an igaging adjustable 4" which I trust more than any of the others mentioned. So I have had some late night browsing and youtube video watching about squares. More specifically woodpeckers. I think that I am at the point in my life where I can spend the money to get one or two of their items. Not exactly sure if I would go with the 641/851 combo or go with the 1281. Have also stumbled across a 4 square set from igaging for less money than 1 woodpecker. Which way would you guys go? If you could have one square, what would it be?
  22. Does the cnc recommend having a 6"? I would think you would be able to get away with running a hard 6 to the machine then reduce to a 4"
  23. Yeah that is a big jump in price! You could always store that cnc in my shop, 11ft ceiling should be plenty of head room.
  24. Couldn't you run your hard pipe to about center of the cnc table then come down with an elbow and a swivel? The CnC tables that I have seen in person all use this method. Quick search and found this for you to check out. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/4-dust-collection-swivel?gclid=CjwKCAjwur-SBhB6EiwA5sKtjlXAsbyW7pIroUmMahkwyh9epsGevO6RvXVx7HDb2cvRxK8rP6XmfBoClFgQAvD_BwE
